Kamehameha Schools Song Contest is an annual choral music competition between the grades 9 through12 of the Kamehameha Schools Kapālama Campus. This year’s theme is the songs of Aunty Irmgard Aluli Farden. Hailama Farden will be joining us to talk about Aunty Irmgard, who’s compositions epitomized an era of classic Hawaiian composition with such classics as Puamana and E Maliu Mai. Hailama will be followed by a past song director, Zachary Lum as well as a present song director, Kaipo Dudoit. The 91st competition is sponsored by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and will be on Friday, March 18 televised live on KGMB9 and streamed on the world-wide web.
