
Native Hawaiian Legal Corp fundraiser Nā Kānaka Kai: People of the Shore
Two films will be featured “Miss South Pacific: Beauty & The Sea”, which provides a revealing look at the impact climate change and the resulting rise in sea level is having on the lives of our South Pacific Island neighbors, and “I Just Love To Paddle”, which follows legendary Hawaiian waterman Nappy Napoleon in his one man canoe on Saturday, November 19th at 5 pm at Mamiya Theatre.

Featured Guest: Dr. Malia Ka’aihue, Chief Knowledge Officer of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Prior to her work at OHA she worked in the University of Hawai‘i system for 7 years, most recently as the Director of the Ho‘oulu Project, a Native Hawaiian Career and Technical Education program at Leeward Community College. Her Ph.D. in Political Science is from the University of Hawai‘i at Mänoa. She also holds an MA in Indigenous Politics and BAs in Hawaiian Studies and Hawaiian Language.![]()
