SHOW SYNOPSIS: On Saturday, August 14, 2010, PHOCUSED (Protecting Hawaii’s Ohana, Children, Under Served, Elderly and Disabled) health and human services organizations will be conducting a candidate forum for this year’s election at the University of Hawaii, Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies, 9:00 to 2:00 p.m. These organizations recognize the power of the vote of the people and are seeking their support to elect good legislators. Last year, health and human service organizations saw their programs cut. Native Hawaiians comprise 50% plus of their clientele. The intent of the forum is to seek information from the candidates on their priorities, to ascertain whether those priorities are inclusive of the concerns of our collective communities, and to educate the community on issues of concern to them, so that sound decisions can be made at the election pools. Candidates will be asked about their health and human services initiatives and Native Hawaiian initiatives. The AHCC will be present to register voters.
